Nightwater is a series of drawings of a glass of water beside a bed. The water glass by one’s bed is for Odahara a space of transition, a connecting element from one evening into the next morning. Like the preparation for a journey, it is the belonging one takes along as a companion or witness between night and day. The drawings are based on the glass of water Odahara takes to bed everyday. The first drawing in the series was made after the glass he found next to his grandmother’s bed the morning after the night she passed away.
